Tales Over Ale

This song is a study in acoustic guitar.

I wanted the guitar part to sound realistic. I also wanted it to be playable on a real guitar. To achieve this, I worked through the parts on a real guitar while writing it, which had the side effect of constraining the song to things I'd be able to play. I didn't go crazy on dynamics like with my previous song, but the result is fairly convincing anyway.

There are five instrument parts played by five INTEGRA patches:

• Steel-string guitar (SoftPckStlGt, SN-A ExSN4)

• Acoustic bass (Ac Bass 2, SN-A PRST)

• Drums (Fat Kit, SN-D PRST)

• Flute (Jazz Flute, SN-A PRST)

I believe this song is successful at cultivating a cohesive setting. It stays focused on a core idea and doesn't draw too much attention to itself.

It's easy to imagine this song as the backdrop to a tavern scene, or a festive town, or any other location with lots of people having a good time.
